As a communication major, I hear a lot about social media, I am often involved in a discussion about it and still don’t know what it actually is because of its changing and diverse nature. Not a big surprise that everything unknown terrifies us. We don’t really know what our rights on social media are, we don’t understand how to secure our information, we are fed up of reading ten pages conditions and we just click “allow”…

And you know what- I don’t mind. We just need to reconsider what the social media is for us. At its earlier stage seen as a place to socialize with friends, it is more of a personal branding tool these days.
So the question is: Do you accept the new style of living? Do you accept to share all of your data? Would you fight against it or benefit from it?
Because I choose to benefit! And there’s just one of the way I do it with Instagram:
One of those days, my friend found a picture on Instagram; it had a location tag and here we go, in the car, on our way to a hidden beauty of French Riviera.
On the way back from Barcelona to Nice, before leaving Barcelona, I saw this place on Instagram so we turned onto the speedway for 50 kilometers to spend a few hours there. Thank you, Instagram!

It’s not just traveling inspirations that I get from Instagram. Couple days ago, I was checking InstaStories and saw an awesome painting. I asked the author about the painting and voila- I discovered another great artist that I really like.
No matter what we think about social media, it is there. I hope that you, my dear reader, will find the way to deal with fears and take all the advantages that this new online world has to offer.
Have you discovered an amazing place thanks to Instagram? If yes, share with us in comments!
